The thesis summarizes results of an action research relating to the application of Google Classroom in an English course for non-English major students in a police institution to promote their independent learning. The research concluded the following major results: 1) The participants had positive opinions towards Google Classroom in three aspects: perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and behavioral intention; 2) The application of Google Classroom is recognized as a beneficial intervention, improving the independent learning of the students at a moderate degree. In addition, the research also reached another conclusion: Before the treatment of the research, independent learning skills of the majority of students were generally at low level due to some internal and external factors.
